What happens after you apply
Once your application is submitted, it moves through a few stages before the certificate is ready to download. This page explains each one so you always know where you stand.
Verifying your identity
Your identity is confirmed in one of three ways, depending on how you applied:
- **Aadhaar** offline XML
- **PAN** with a short recorded video
- **GST** registration, for organisation certificates
The video, where required, must be recorded through the official app or link — a video sent over WhatsApp or other chat apps is not accepted.
Tracking the status
While it is being processed your order shows a status such as *in process*, *video pending* or *ready to download*. You can check this with your order reference at any time, without calling anyone.
Downloading the certificate
When the status shows ready:
- Plug in your USB token and make sure its driver is installed.
- Open the download tool and enter your order details.
- The certificate is written **onto the token**, not saved as a file on your computer.
- Set or confirm the token PIN when prompted.
Re-downloading
For security, a certificate is downloaded **once**. If something genuinely went wrong at the technical step, support can re-enable a download after checking — but a lost or damaged token means revoking the certificate and getting a new one.
Why it is done this way
Writing the key straight to the token, and allowing a single download, is what keeps your signing key from ever being copied. It is part of what makes the signature legally trustworthy.
